Planet Arlington World Music Festival – Roslyn, VA

After collecting trash for two months (with the help of several friends and family), I arrived at the festival with a tub of empty bottle, another tub of paper towel and toilet paper rolls, old newspapers, a supply of googly eyes and a lot of tape. I also had random scraps of fabric and other miscellany that I found around the house.

I taught how to make a head— crumbled newspaper and tape— and then left the participants to their own accord.

Several of the adults reminisced about making toys as children, and one personal made the very astute comment that kids today have everything created FOR them, and how nice it was seeing them create something on their own.
